A mere 45 minutes away from the city of Puebla, the archaeological complex of Xochitecatl-Cacaxtla includes two impressive sites. Xochitecatl is a ceremonial center with large structures that date back to the Preclassic Period. This is the only site in México that has a circular pyramid in the form of a spiral. In contrast, Cacaxtla was a lavish residential area that reached its climax during the Epiclassic Period.
The palace at Cacaxtla has a series of very well preserved murals that depict scenes of fertility, the underworld, and even an epic battle between two ethnic groups. Their bright vivid colors and iconography tell the story of the Xicalanca-Olmecs, the indigenous group that ruled the site and the region of the Puebla-Tlaxcala Valley between the 7th and 10th centuries.

Here are some tips and additional information for your Tour Cacaxtla and Xochitecatl experience:
LUNCH DETAILS: Once you have booked the tour you will receive an email with a list of options for lunch. If you have any dietary restrictions please let us know so we can adapt the meal to your preference.
IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS: You should bring water, a hat, closed comfortable shoes, and sunblock. Cacaxtla is located in a very windy area, therefore, we highly recommend bringing a jacket even in the summer.
This tour is not recommended for people with mobility issues or heart conditions since it involves moderate activity. To reach the main platform at Cacaxtla we will have to climb up several stairs. If you have knee issues then this may not be the tour for you.

This was such an amazing experience. The two archaeological sites are absolutely impressive and it made such a difference seeing them with an archaeologist. Having lunch next to the pyramids was also quite nice. My husband and I really enjoyed the tour!
