If you’re an experienced traveler who loves history and learning about other cultures this is the tour for you! Visit five of Cholula’s most important locations in the company of an archaeologist: the Church of the Virgin of the Remedies (the famous church built on top of the pyramid), the archaeological museum, the local cemetery, the archaeological site (pyramids), and the Saint Gabriel Complex (the oldest Spanish building in the city).
The meeting spot is right in front of the Cholula train station. The first stop on the walking tour is the Iglesia de los Remedios, the famous church built on top of the pyramid. After visiting the church and hearing all its stories and legends you will enjoy a stunning panoramic view of Cholula, Puebla, and the volcanos. From there we will visit the archaeological museum where you will learn all about the Great Pyramid and Prehispanic Cholula. Then we will walk around the pyramid and take a quick detour to visit the local cemetery. The next stop is the archaeological site which consists of an open ceremonial center with several pyramids and ruins. Here you will learn about the site’s construction and religious importance. From there we will take our final walk down to the San Gabriel Complex in downtown San Pedro Cholula. We will see the main church, the Royal Chapel, and the Franciscan Convent and you will learn about the Colonial history of Cholula. During the entire tour I will provide specialized and detailed information you won’t find anywhere else that will allow you to really immerse yourself in the amazing wonders of Cholula’s Prehispanic and Colonial past. Our walking tour ends at the Zocalo of San Pedro Cholula.

I really enjoyed this tour. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Puebla for the first time. Carmen’s insights with her expertise really make this tour unique. I felt like I came away with new knowledge and perspective on the history behind Cholula.
This was a great experience. Cholula is amazing, but getting the professional scoop on the history of this magical city made us enjoy it even more. It was a clear day and the views of the volcanoes were stunning. Learning about the biggest pyramid in the world wasn’t bad either. I highly recommend this tour.
Carmen fue atenta, es experta en su area y nos lleno de conocimientos sobre Cholula, les recomiendo mucho su tour.
Incredibly knowledgeable guide who not only provided contextual history to the pyramid and church, but also took us to additional downtown historical sites we wouldn’t have gone to on our own.
Carmen did a fantastic job on our walking tour of Cholula! She went at a perfect pace…not too fast, not too slow. Her knowledge of history and archaeology is vast, and we learned so much about the indigenous origins, the culture, the Spanish conquest, and the archeological and historical importance of the various sites and excavations. We highly recommend this tour!
Carmen is an amazing host! She is super knowledgeable about Cholula-not just the sites we visited- and she provided interesting commentary everywhere we went. I stopped by the museo regional on my own and felt I had a better understanding of what I was seeing/reading after spending the morning with her!
Such a fun and insightful tour! Carmen is so knowledgeable, always taking the time to answer our questions! Loved the small hidden gems such as the cemetery and paintings in the library — wouldn’t have found them ourselves!
This was a great tour with an expert guide. I highly recommend for anyone who wants to make the most of their trip to Cholula.
Carmen was a wonderful guide to the Cholula archeological site and the beautiful Remedios church. We asked a lot of questions about the history of the people, Catholicism, and life in the area and she had answers for every single one! It was way more than an archeological tour. Highly recommend.
This tour was great! Carmen is friendly, interesting, and above all very knowledgeable. So glad I took this tour! I recommend it to anyone interested in history and Mesoamerican cultures.
Carmen was a great tour guide who is very knowledgeable about the history of Cholula. I learned a lot in just a few hours! She also provided a great recommendation for where to eat lunch after.
Such an interesting and informative tour! Carmen added insightful comments at just the right moments to make me stop and think. Could not have asked for a better overview of the history-rich Cholula! Excellent value.
Carmen has a really great knowledge of the history and culture of the area. Her explanations and stories about the history were interesting. I enjoyed visiting the cemetery to see the different types of graves of the various groups who live in Cholula. She was a wealth of information on all the subjects related to Cholula. I was the only person in the group and she still lead me on the tour. She was very kind and accommodating, when I began to feel ill because of the sun and the altitude. I would highly recommend the store for anyone coming to Cholula.
Es muy grato visitar lugares como los de Cholula cuando vas acompañado de un guía tan conocedora como Carmen.
I highly recommend this tour! Carmen has a wealth of knowledge on Cholula and Puebla and I learned far more than I would have done just wandering around the ancient sites without a guide.
Carmen est captivante. Son récit permet de comprendre toute la richesse du lieu et de réussir sa visite à Cholula. Je la recommanderai chaudement à mon entourage.
It turned out I was the only guest that day so it was like I got my own private tour. Carmen is a professional, very friendly, and organized. I learned a lot about Cholula and its history. I was also able to ask her a lot of questions and she responded the best way she can. Highly recommended!
Carmen & other attendants showed up early so we got prompt start which was grand. Carmen explained things well, was personable, and gave is a good variety of things to see, from the pyramid & church, cityscape, archaeology digs, cemetery etc.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Carmen. She is a very well spoken, knowledgeable and interesting guide who clearly has a passion for the archaeology and history of Cholula. Her pace was excellent. The amount of information that she provided was not overwhelming. We would definitely tour with Carmen again.
We had an amazing tour with Carmen. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and answered so many questions for us. The town is interesting and we were glad we visited.
An amazing experience! Carmen did a really great job of telling the stories of Cholula, and putting the ruins, churches, and archaeology into context. The visits to the museums were really interesting too, and we learned a lot about life in Cholula both before, during, and after the arrival of the Spanish, and learned about their culture and beliefs. The visit to the cemetery was a really cool, very local experience too. If you’re in Cholula and want to learn about the rich history of the area and its people, look no further than Carmen!
Short and sweet! I really enjoyed this tour. I felt like it hit all the spots of Cholula that I wanted to go to.
Very interesting tour. The initial climb is not too bad and the rest of the tour is downhill or mostly flat. The church is pretty, and the museum was small, but interesting: Carmen’s commentary brought the era to life for me. Recommended.
Awesome informative tour of Cholula. I learned so much about the history and was able to better appreciate the historical sites with the background that Carmen provided. Highly recommended!
WONDERFUL tour! We learned so much and had a great time.
