This was the highlight of my trip to Cholula, and some of the most delicious food I ate on my trip! Carmen and Jaime have created an extremely well-crafted, thoughtful, enriching experience with lots of delight along the way. 100% recommend this experience!
The most unique experience! Who else can say they’ve eaten preHispanic food prepared by a world-class chef after a tour of pyramids with an archaeologist??? I felt lucky to have had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with Carmen and Jaime.
This was the best experience I’ve done – and I’ve done several. To be able to visit an archeological site with an archeologist was so informative. I learned things about the pyramids, the ancient people and how their city evolved. Then, the icing on the cake was a unique meal prepared by Jaime, a superb professional chef. He served the most delicious and beautifully presented foods created from the ancient grains and produce that were eaten during that time. Each bite had subtle flavors that were not only delicious, but you could taste each ingredient that went into creating it. He explained the what, how and why of each dish. I hate to sound like I’m over the top, but this was a magical experience.
This was awesome! Carmen was extremely knowledgeable about Cholula. The culinary experience was fantastic!!! I learned so much on this experience and really learned the beauty of Cholula.
This is a fabulous experience! The food is incredible and Carmen is a true expert in her field. We loved learning about the ancient civilizations that inhabited the area prior to the arrival of the Spanish, as well as trying ingredients native to the area. Would recommend for enthusiastic food lovers and intellectuals alike.
We couldn’t have been happier with our experience – the combination of archeological knowledge and the history of the area with the traditional pre-Hispanic food was above and beyond. Absolutely recommend doing this experience. We loved it.

Carmen and Jaime have really created an unique and special experience here. First, we met up with Carmen at the pyramids in Cholula. Carmen knows the site and the area well, given her expertise in archaeology and her love for Cholula. After visiting the pyramids for around an hour, we walked to her home nearby, where Jaime cooked us an incredible tasting menu meal. While we think we know Mexico and it’s food well, Jaime took us on a culinary trip that we had never been on before: he prepared a meal of ‘pre-hispanic’ food — i.e., foods from the area, with ingredients and methods only available before the Spanish arrived in Mexico. Truly unique (and tasty!). He could open up his own restaurant, and would have a line out the door for the types and quality of foods he prepared for us. This experience is a great way to spend an afternoon and evening, and to explore a rich and fascinating area near Puebla.
Excelente experiencia, empezando por todo el recorrido tanto del museo y la zona arqueológica, asi mismo como la degustacion de platillos. Altamente recomendable.
Carmen was an amazing and knowledgeable guide. There was not a question to which she did not have a thorough answer. Learning about the pre-Hispanic history before we dined really made the experience extra special. Absolutely recommend. It is a bit of a walk but my 75-year-old mother was able to keep up even at the steeper inclines and steps.
Fue perfecto, no pudimos reservar a tiempo pero afortunadamente nos abrieron espacio para poder vivir esta experiencia, fue algo sumamente enriquecedor aprender no solo a través de la historia sino también a través de la comida la cuál fue espectacular. Gracias.
Carmen is a wonderful guide, she lays out the history very well and interestingly and the meal Jaime made for us was incredibly special and thoughtful. Highly recommend!!
This tour includes the best homemade meal you’ll ever have in Mexico. Carmen and her partner put together a great day with local and historical info and insight. But seriously, the food part of it is phenomenal.
An awesome experience! I learned a lot about the area and appreciate how knowledgeable Carmen was. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented. Was a great opportunity to learn about the history and food of the area, and get all my questions answered ! Highly recommend!
This tour was beyond amazing. I would definitely recommend it. Great storytelling and Carmen cares and answers everything!
We had such an educational and wonderful time with Carmen and Jaime. We learned so much and ate such delicious food. We were able to take what we had learned about making pre-Hispanic tlacoyos and make them a week later. Not as delicious as Jaime’s but an absolutely wonderful experience with incredible memories!
My daughter and I did this experience while on a Christmas trip to Puebla. We enjoyed many things about the experience! Since Carmen is an archeologist, there were many things in the museum and on site at the pyramids that we would have had no way of knowing. It was very educational. We enjoyed the walk through the barrio and the many painted murals. Our meal was fantastic and we enjoyed learning about the prehispanic foods. This was a great experience for us.
We had a great time on the tour with Carmen – I learned a lot about the pre-hispanic civilizations and we saw some cool artefacts. It was nice to take a tour b/c otherwise we wouldn’t have context for the pyramids and other buildings. The meal with Jaime was fantastic. Very artistic and delicious and well prepared. The two experiences pair together well making the meal even more meaningful!
Spectacular! Hands-down, the best, absolute best, experience. We loved the history, depth of knowledge, connection, and the food! The reviews cannot do this dynamic duo justice; Carmen and Jaime are the absolute best. Eating the curated prehispanic menu was better than a Michelin-star restaurant. We can’t wait for our next trip to Mexico to connect with Carmen and Jaime to learn more about the area. We highly recommend this experience.
One of my highlights from my trip to the Puebla area. Carmen and Jaime were super friendly and knowledgeable. Carmen gave us a nice tour of the local archaeology museum and nearby pyramids, followed up one of my favorite meals of recent memories prepared by Jaime. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed learning about the foods and culture of the prehispanic local people. Easy to recommend to all travelers in the area.
The meal with Carmen’s husband was the highlight for me, a very special and thoroughly explained meal. The pyramid was also cool to see.
This was an incredible experience that combined history, food, and culture. It started with a walking tour of the Cholula ruins, for which Carmen was an incredible guide. She has been living in and studying Cholula for decades, and it shows with her deep knowledge of the history. She was a captivating guide and able to answer all of our questions while catering the tour to exactly the pace we wanted. Afterwards, we enjoyed a stunning meal at Jaime’s beautiful house. Jaime is an excellent chef, and in addition to serving us delicious and nutritious food, also engaged with us throughout the whole meal and provided historical context (along with Carmen) for everything we were eating. It was a special experience and I recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
What a fun Cholula experience! I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to feel and see and taste the beauty of Cholula in such a uniquely special way.
